Experience Safe Sedation Dentistry in Lewisburg

We’ve Heard Your Requests to Help Ease Dental Anxiety

Are you someone who has a genuine phobia, fear, or overall dental anxiety when you think about going to the dentist? Relax, and see the team at Union Dental Health to learn more about our kind of safe sedation dentistry in Lewisburg.

We’ve added this unique service due to your requests for the possibility of “being asleep” during certain treatments such as extractions and implant procedures or to help soothe your little one’s dental anxiety. You can feel good knowing you can have pain-free and worry-free sedation dentistry in Lewisburg. Our general anesthesia is closely monitored by dental anesthesia specialists with state-of-the-art monitoring and delivery technology.

What Does This Mean For You and Your Dental Anxiety?

Our team continues to try to meet the needs and desires of our patients and provide the services they need. Now, anything is possible for everyone thanks to Lewisburg sedation dentistry. Here are just some of the amazing benefits of using general anesthesia in dentistry:

  • Patients can have the treatment they require in a comfortable and relaxing environment.
  • Your dentist can be more efficient in their treatment since they do not need to manage your fears and anxiety during treatment.
  • Better pain management can be accomplished using IV medications vs. local anesthetics, including post-operative pain medicine administration.

You can also expect to experience dentistry differently than you might have in the past. We will do everything possible to help you overcome your dental fears and heal from potential bad dental visits from your past.

Experience and Education When it Matters Most

Anytime anesthesia is involved in a dental or medical procedure, we all know that it comes with risks. For outstanding sedation dentistry in Lewisburg, we invite you to meet and speak with our very own Dr. Jonathan Mendia. He completed a postdoctoral residency in Dental Anesthesiology at the University Of Pittsburgh School Of Dental Medicine, at the University Of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC). Dr. Mendia’s anesthesia training involved hospital rotations through various specialties.

Today, Dr. Mendia has found his niche in ambulatory anesthesia with pediatric and special needs patients. He is also an Assistant Clinical Professor at Rutgers University School of Dental Medicine and provides lectures and continuing education courses on sedation and medical emergencies in the dental office.

What Should I Expect?

No matter what reason you have for joining us at Union Dental Health, we know that everyone has their own unique needs and questions. While we go out of our way to make every aspect of your treatment as personalized as possible, here is some general information about what you can expect:

  1. Pre-Operative Evaluations: Before your scheduled appointment, you will complete a medical questionnaire regarding patient medical history, current medications, surgical and anesthesia history, allergies, and additional health questions that may have an impact on your anesthetic care.

Your Anesthesiologist will conduct an airway assessment and physical exam followed by a thorough pre-anesthetic assessment on the day of your appointment.

  1. State-of-the-Art Monitoring: During the procedure, you’ll be continuously monitored using state-of-the-art monitoring equipment under the American Society of Anesthesiology (ASA) guidelines. The monitoring equipment includes NIBP (non-invasive blood pressure), pulse oximeter (oxygen saturation of blood), EKG (heart rate and rhythm), respiratory rate, temperature, and capnography.

The anesthesiologist will continuously monitor the patient’s vital signs during the dental procedure and through recovery. Emergency medical equipment equivalent to that carried by the EMS (Emergency Medical Services) is provided during every sedation procedure.

  1. Individualized Anesthetic Plan: Each patient will receive an individual, customized anesthetic plan based on the information recorded by the anesthesiologist during his focused physical exam and patient medical history.

According to the anesthetic plan, medications will be selected for safety and comfort, allowing the sedation to be tailored to exactly what you need and want.
